Middle of Nowhere

Look, I can sit! Kind of...

 ... oop, never mind ...

 this is a really blurry picture but it really show what our daily life usually looks like (including the blurriness)

 Daddy took some time away from school so he could join us at the splash park:

 We also took some time to go shoot archery. The kids all really enjoy it.

 Evelyn enjoys watching:

 Jake changed her diaper right before we left. I pulled her out of her seat at the archery range and noticed what a strange outfit she had on. Daddy had put on big sisters pajama shorts

 5 months old!

 The boys kind of needed a haircut:

The rains came down and the floods came up...
One evening it began to hail

The kids thought that was great fun and enjoyed playing in the hail

 Then I rushed everyone inside as the rains really started to pound down around us:

 We took a break for cuteness and dinner:

Then went back out to play in puddles and mud

By morning reports were flooding in (pun intended) about the damage that had happened around town.

The storm lasted about 45 minutes and there was at least 2 inches of water. It doesn't seem like a lot when you measure it but in that short amount of time, it was a lot of water. Rexburg is pretty much all built on a hill so all that water came rushing down the hill flooding apartments and at least 20-30 homes. Some places had about 6 feet of standing water. The drain systems in some of the campus buildings couldn't handle the amount of water so they overflowed and flooded a bunch of buildings on campus. Around town there was so much water coming into the drain systems that it was blowing manhole covers off.

There was a lot of calls for service and a lot of people jumping in to help out however they could. Thankfully there was no damage at our apartments. The downstairs neighbors had a little bit starting to come in but Jake was out there with them with snow shovels and buckets bailing water away from the building as fast as they could.
See, Rexburg is an exciting town!
